Description

A solid yarding of 1,273 head went under the hammer in Gunnedah yesterday. Demand remained competitive across key categories, particularly for quality feeder steers and heavy cattle.

Here are the key highlights from this week’s sale:

  • Weaner Steers (280–330kg): Topped at 622.2c/kg (Avg $1,754.64/hd)
  • Feeder Steers (400–500kg): Topped at 619.2c/kg (Avg $2,484.71/hd)
  • Heavy Steers (500kg+): Averaged $2,776.07/hd
  • Heifers (330–400kg): Topped at 579.2c/kg (Avg $1,959.73/hd)
  • Heavy Cows (520kg+): Topped at 408.2c/kg (Avg $2,320.94/hd)
  • Heavy Bulls (600kg+): Averaged $3,096.00/hd

Gunnedah Sale Yards Weekly Report 7th July 2026

Numbers bounced back strongly in Gunnedah this week, with 1,643 cattle yarded an increase of 690 head from last week. It was another high-quality yarding dominated by yearling and weaner cattle. All the major buyers were at the rail and competing hard, driving a mostly dearer market across the board.

Gunnedah Sale Yards Weekly Report 30th June 2026

Numbers continue to eased in Gunnedah with 945 cattle scanned, down 140 head from last week. It was a fair quality yarding dominated by yearlings and weaners, though some larger runs of excellent quality cattle kept competition healthy. While prime cattle were in limited supply, most major buyers were active in the lanes, driving a solid, firm market across the board.
