Gunnedah Sale Yards Weekly Report 30th June 2026
Date: June 30, 2026
Location: Gunnedah Sale Yards
Description
Numbers continue to eased in Gunnedah with 945 cattle scanned, down 140 head from last week. It was a fair quality yarding dominated by yearlings and weaners, though some larger runs of excellent quality cattle kept competition healthy. While prime cattle were in limited supply, most major buyers were active in the lanes, driving a solid, firm market across the board.
Here is a look at today's key market indicators:
Yearlings & Restockers
(Solid & Dearer)
The standout performers today were light restocker cattle, which saw a noticeable jump in both quality and price:
Prime Yearlings: 455¢ to 520¢/kgFeeder Steers: 530¢ to 626¢/kg (with a strong average of 580¢/kg)
Feeder Heifers: 466¢ to 580¢/kg
Light Restocker Steers: Improved strongly, making 600¢ to 610¢/kg to average 606¢/kgRestocker Heifers: Also trended dearer,
hitting between 510¢ and 550¢/kg
Grown Cattle, Cows &
Bulls (Firm Market)
The heavy end held its ground well today, with cows maintaining a very steady trend:
Prime Grown Cattle: Topped out at 440¢/kg2-Score Cows (Processor): 328¢ to 380¢/kg3-Score Cows: 385¢ to 390¢/kg
Prime Heavyweight Cows: Strong demand from 390¢ up to a top of 408¢/kgHeavy Bulls: Topped at 360¢/kg
A smaller yarding but a resilient, competitive field of buyers keeping prices robust, particularly across the restocker and lightweight
lines.
