Gunnedah Sale Yards Weekly Report 7th July 2026
Date: July 7, 2026
Description
Numbers bounced back strongly in Gunnedah this week, with 1,643 cattle yarded an increase of 690 head from last week. It was another
high-quality yarding dominated by yearling and weaner cattle. All the major buyers were at the rail and competing hard, driving a mostly
dearer market across the board.
Here are the key takeaways from today’s sale:
✅Yearlings: Trade cattle were limited, making up to 529c/kg. Feeder steers were well-supplied and 8c dearer, fetching 556c to 632c/kg,
while feeder heifers ranged from 530c to 594c/kg.
✅ Restockers: Light restocker steers held firm at 550c to 648c/kg. Light restocker heifers found plenty of fans, lifting 15c to make
between 500c and 578c/kg.
✅Grown Cattle: Prime grown cattle to processors made 430c to 538c/kg.
✅Cows & Bulls: Prime heavy cows improved by 5c, making 392c to 420c/kg, while 2 and 3 score processor cows eased slightly on quality. 2
scores hit 340c–350c/kg and 3 scores made 368c–384c/kg. Cows heading back out to the paddock fetched 370c to 410c/kg, and the best of the
bulls topped at 400c/kg.
A fantastic, competitive result for our local vendors today!
