The Australian Lot Feeders Association has released its latest educational resource, a virtual feedlot tour, which promises to provide an immersive 'on-farm' experience of feedlot operations and career opportunities.

The all-inclusive virtual experience offers an immersive 360-degree walkthrough of a feedlot, with detailed insights into operational areas and concise facts about the grain-fed beef industry.

The user-friendly resource is available to all stakeholders and demonstrates the inner workings of a feedlot.

It provides users with a detailed guide to feedlot operations, raises awareness of the industry's production systems, and encourages further engagement via the ALFA website, grainfedbeef.com.au, and Feedlot TECH, the organization's online careers and education hub.

ALFA's top strategic priority is to provide the Australian feedlot sector, its businesses, and current and prospective employees with a clear career development path, as well as the necessary training, professional development, and support networks to attract, retain, and grow the feedlot workforce.

ALFA President Barb Madden stated that the tour was organised as part of the association's efforts to raise industry awareness and engagement.

“The driver in developing the tour was to create a resource that our members can use to showcase the intricacies of feedlot operations to others in a way that’s engaging, relevant and easily accessible,” she said.

“It is a collective effort for all lot feeders to be advocates for our industry, and this tour will be fantastic in assisting these efforts. If you can’t be physically on-site, this is the next best thing for an immersive education on lot feeding.

“What’s impressive is the tour goes beyond a simple walkthrough, but rather provides a comprehensive e-learning tool that gives a first hand look at how a feedlot operates,” she said.

ALFA invites members and stakeholders to join the tour and share the resource with their friends and colleagues.

The tour can be accessed through the ALFA website's Resource page.
