Numbers eased this week Gunnedah, with 1,085 cattle yarded down 785 head on last week. The yarding was a step up in quality, made up predominantly of yearlings and weaners, though prime cattle and cows remained limited.
Most major buyers were active today, driving steady competition. Overall, quality drove the day's gains, while heifers were less sought after across the board.
Here are the key takeaways from the rails:
The Gains:
-Yearling Steers (Feed): A strong result, selling 20c dearer (and more in places)! They ranged from 534c to 632c to average a solid 596c/kg.
-Light Steers (Restocker): Up 3c to 5c, ranging from 530c to 638c to average 569c/kg.
-2 & 3 Score Cows (Processor): Found good competition to finish 10c better and more in spots, making from 355c to 391c/kg.
The Easing Trends:
-Yearling Heifers (Feed): Eased 6c, making between 472c and 558c/kg.
-Light Heifers (Restocker): Harder to place, dropping 15c to range from 365c to 530c (averaging 487c/kg).
-Prime Heavy Cows: Lost 7c, returning 388c to 419c/kg.
Other Notable Sales:
-Prime Grown Cattle (Processor): 370c to 454c/kg.
-Cows to Paddock (Restocker): 380c to 391c/kg.
-Top Bull: Reached 396c/kg.
