Yardings were down in Gunnedah this week, with 1,534 cattle scanned (700+ fewer than last sale) in a mixed-quality yarding. All major buyers
were present in a market where prime, heavier weight cattle saw improvements, while most other categories eased.
Key Highlights & Category Breakdown:
Yearling Trade:
Prime yearling cattle reached up to 455c/kg.Feeder Steers:Lacking quality this week, easing over 25c to sell from 482c – 585c/kg.
Feeder Heifers:
Under 400kg improved on quality to make 492c – 532c/kg. Heavy feeder heifers (>400kg) were considerably cheaper, ranging from 435c –
526c/kg (avg 490c/kg).
Restockers:
Light steers eased 20c to sell from 462c – 559c/kg. Top-end restocker heifers gained ground, making 340c – 524c/kg.
Grown Cattle & Processors:
Prime grown cattle reached 468c/kg.Cows: 2 and 3-score cows eased 15c (2-scores 348c – 364c/kg; 3-scores 358c – 370c/kg).
Heavy prime cows held firm from 380c – 412c/kg.
